What Is A Guide?

On the True Nature of Guidance and the Journey Within

A true guide does not stand above you, pointing the way from a distance. A guide walks beside you, as a fellow traveler, a person who has gone through suffering and despair, but has healed from those emotional hard times and learned to listen to the quiet wisdom within. I've walked many paths, and been in several communities. Each has taught me something essential. And even now, I continue learning, deepening, and being guided myself every single day.

Over time, I've encountered countless teachings and techniques. But I only share what is living and true for me now, that which is practical and possible, and what I have verified in my own being. Yes, I still find teachings that so appeal to me, and that I will be participating in. But what I have to offer to you now is from what I am now, which is so much more than it was just a few years ago.

It's just like a guide who takes people through the wilderness. Now that guide may know of a thousand paths in the area, but he hasn't been down all those paths. So the guide is only going to guide his group down the path that he knows, and is intimately familiar with.

In the same way, I walk with you only along the paths I know to be trustworthy: the ones that lead toward inner stillness, joy, and freedom. If I explore a new way and find it beautiful, alive, or transformative, I will bring it back and share it with you joyfully, like a traveler returning with news of a hidden garden.

My work is not to fill you with endless methods or borrowed ideas, but to walk with you until you become your own inner Guide: the Teacher already alive within your heart. When you begin to trust that Presence, my role naturally fades. The goal has never been for you to follow me, but for you to remember the One who has always been guiding you from within.

These practices help.
